EDUCATION NEWS

  • A new Texas law now requires all school buses to have three-point lap and shoulder belts—Round Rock ISD and other Central Texas districts must complete upgrades within a four-year window. The rule follows a deadly bus rollover and is meant to boost safety for schoolchildren.  CBS Austin

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Round Rock City Council approved an $831,222 contract with Halff Associates Inc. on Aug. 14 to extend Deepwood Drive north across Brushy Creek to connect with Sam Bass Road (the design includes a four-lane divided roadway and a potential link to the Brushy Creek Trail System). The project will have design and utility work for 20 months before construction begins in mid-2027 (public meetings will allow local input as plans progress).  City of Round Rock
