EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At its May 15 regular board meeting, the school board reviewed this school year's budget, PTA reports, and SHAC recommendations to boost student well-being and safety—focusing on a proposed policy for 45 minutes of unstructured recess for elementary students. Trustees approved several action items and discussed survey results from 31,216 students while awaiting state funding updates and a revised compensation plan before the June 30 budget deadline—paving the way for future improvements in student outcomes. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Round Rock is nearly finishing a big dam designed to stop flooding in West Round Rock. The mile-long dam will serve over 1,000 homes and was built with $34 million from the Upper Brushy Creek Improvement District — $2 million from the city. FOX 7 Austin
