- ➤ Round Rock opened the Republic Services Sustainability Pod today at Play for All Park to teach children about recycling and renewable energy through a hands-on recycling truck slide, educational play elements and a wheelchair-accessible merry-go-round. - ➤ The Round Rock Public Library will host a Local Author Meet and Greet on Saturday, June 20 (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.), featuring local writers Kerry Dashnaw, Terri Johnson, Kirti Kode, Mark Moore, Nikei Salas, Jenna Summers, and Laura Tapper, with 10% of book sales benefiting The Friends of the Round Rock Library. - ➤ Williamson County Commissioners purchased over 200 acres for a new justice complex yesterday, though residents living near two schools voiced concerns about the site location. FOX 7 Austin
- ➤ On Monday, Central Texas firefighters from Travis County ESD 1 and the Pflugerville Fire Department supported efforts to suppress the Stinky Fire in the Texas Panhandle after it burned over 2,500 acres and forced evacuations of about 540 homes + FEMA approved a grant covering 75% of suppression costs.
