EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Round Rock ISD used over $5 million from a state School Safety Grant to install window safety film, purchase police equipment, and pay officer salaries while installing campus fencing that will be completed before the end of the 2027-28 school year—these funds also support distributing gun safety information and training staff on mental health and secure firearm storage with set milestones. The Safety and Security Committee meets at the Old Hopewell Building at 5:30 p.m. on scheduled dates including May 7 and August 6. Round Rock Independent School District
- ➤ Round Rock ISD held its first Early Learning Day last week when over 1,000 families visited preschool and kindergarten classrooms at each elementary school (they saw programs in advanced academics, arts integration, dual language, STEAM, leadership, and special education services). - ➤ Today, East Austin Avenue, between Lampasas and Sheppard Streets, is closed to let crews replace industrial doors at the back of the Round Rock Public Library—detour routes remain in effect until April 14. City of Round Rock
- ➤ TxDOT will restrict main lanes on I-35 northbound between Rundberg Lane and US183 from tonight at 8 p.m. through Saturday for drainage work—following last month’s fatal 18-car crash that killed five and injured nearly a dozen—and officials advise drivers to slow down and drive to conditions.
