- ➤ The Williamson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspected murder-suicide near Round Rock that occurred Thursday morning—police say there is no ongoing threat and residents should avoid Bucine Cove while the investigation continues. CBS Austin
- ➤ The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation ordered ML Massage to close for six months on March 19 amid human trafficking claims. A joint probe found the business offered unwanted sexual services with a fake license and had an employee living on site (owner Xihui Peng and Jisheng Spa LLC barred) and (3001 Joe DiMaggio Blvd., Suite 650B). - ➤ A man was taken to a hospital after a shooting at a Pflugerville apartment complex near the 2100 block of Falcon Village Lane late Wednesday night—officers arrived around 11:45 p.m., rendered aid, and two individuals are being questioned with no suspects remaining at large. CBS Austin
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Round Rock ISD’s teacher residency program is nearing the end of its first academic year as seven teacher residents from Texas State University and Concordia University gain hands-on experience at C.D. Fulkes Middle School since August. Six of the residents will transition to fully contracted teaching positions when they complete the program (launched in June 2024) that offers paid salaries, full benefits, and early classroom immersion. - ➤ Dr. Deborah Wills Covault will be Union Hill Elementary School's new principal starting May 1—she brings more than 18 years of education experience including leadership roles at Lampasas ISD. Round Rock Independent School District

- ➤ Round Rock City Council approved a $5.1 million street maintenance contract — Lone Star Paving will repair roads in Kensington Place, Southern Terrace, and Round Rock Ranch at its March 27 meeting. Work will begin in May and finish in October. City of Round Rock
