TxDOT faces scrutiny after two fatal I-35 crashes—a March 14th 18-car pileup in a work zone left five dead including a baby and a child and a March 25th lane change crash killed a 35-year-old woman as reported by Round Rock police—with the agency planning multiple projects to improve roadway safety.

The Texas House and Senate Education Committees are reviewing proposals to change education rights—House Bill 7 would give parents access to student records and consent rights for psychological exams while lawmakers consider measures that let teachers remove disruptive students.

Lawmakers are balancing parental involvement and teacher protections as they debate these proposals.

Gov. Greg Abbott and House Speaker Dustin Burrows, joined by Lt. Gov Dan Patrick and former Arizona Gov Doug Ducey, held a press conference Tuesday afternoon to discuss advancing school choice legislation in Texas.

They said the House is expected to bring two education savings account bills to the floor for a vote early next week—one that passed the Senate in February and a similar House proposal under review.

Round Rock residents are invited to complete an online water use survey as part of a study by the Water Research Foundation—this effort will help city officials improve water management and plan future conservation projects.
