  • Elsa England Elementary hosted its Career Day Thursday, where professionals from more than 40 fields gave students a hands-on look at future jobs. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said her department does not ask about immigration status to build trust with local immigrants and will only help with tasks like blocking a street if legally required (no current ICE request), while Round Rock police detained a suspect after a possible attempted abduction in a neighborhood.  CBS Austin
  • Round Rock City Council approved an economic development agreement that lets Ruby Hotel extend Heritage Trail East over Brushy Creek by purchasing a 1.028-acre property at 408 Fannin Avenue, redeveloping part for a 4,000-square-foot event center, and selling a portion to the City for $750,000 as a future trail bridge landing — the City will provide a four-year, $2.65 million loan and incentive payments through 2029 to support downtown growth.  City of Round Rock
  • Sandra Duran joined Round Rock as the new Human Resources Director at the end of January, replacing long-serving Valerie Francois.
